Ribeira Brava

Continuing our coach trip we visited Ribeira Brava (translates as wild river) on the south-west coast of the island.

Yellow taxis are everywhere in Madeira
and larger, darker lizards than we see in La Tranche.
There's a small harbour
and a tunnel under the high cliffs
leading to a black volcanic rocky bay.

We also visited the beautiful church
complete with tiled decorations.
The river is only 8 km long and was very inoffensive the day we visited, but watch the YouTube video to see how things were in February 2010.
