From the coach & Porto Moniz

Photos taken from the coach were disappointing, the tinted glass and reflections spoiling things, but I wanted to include these very typical shots.

There are rivers everywhere for such a small island, often flowing down man-made channels in case of flooding.

There has been huge investment in Madeira's infrastructure with excellent roads, motorways , tunnels and viaducts. 

If anyone asked me my favourite place of the whole holiday it would be Porto Moniz on the north coast where I would have happily stayed for a couple of days.

This coast gets the full power of the Atlantic breakers.

Nobody was taking advantage of the swimming pool built into the volcanic rocks

but it was rather windy!
