| The first two photos show the ruggedly beautiful northern side of the easternmost tip of Madeira |

| then turning to view the southern coast, you can see the wind turbines and just make out the top of the field of solar panels we spotted from the plane on our arrival. |

| Dropping down to Machico we saw our first sandy beach and even managed a paddle - no time for a swim like others there! |

| Then back to the hotel for a picnic supper on Jim & Les's balcony. |
